The 576 FET Compressor is Quagliardi’s interpretation of the legendary UREI 1176, a fast, aggressive, and highly expressive FET compressor expanded with a set of original functions that push its versatility far beyond the classic design.
Alongside the essential controls of a traditional FET compressor, including attack, release, ratio, and gain staging, the 576 features a continuously variable MIX control for effortless parallel compression.

Every rotary control is stepped across 41 positions, making settings easy to recall with precision and helping users match adjustments accurately between sessions or across two units in a stereo setup.
Two cumulative high-pass filters in the detector circuit, set at 80 Hz and 120 Hz, reduce the compressor’s sensitivity to low-frequency energy. This prevents bass-heavy content from triggering excessive gain reduction and gives the user greater control over how the compressor reacts to the source.
The LINK function allows two 576 units to operate together for stereo compression, while the proprietary X-REL circuit changes the configuration of the input transformer windings, offering an alternative transformer response and expanding the compressor’s tonal palette.
For more extreme processing, BOOM mode pushes the compression behavior into a far more aggressive and exaggerated response, dramatically reshaping the signal’s dynamics and producing an immediate, forward sound with pronounced pumping and movement. Combined with the MIX control, BOOM mode becomes especially versatile: the dry signal can restore the original dynamics and transient definition while retaining the density, texture, and impact created by the processed path.
A relay-based true bypass completely removes the compressor from the signal path, allowing fast and accurate A/B comparisons with the original source.
